DRRH-3
Background:
• DRRH 3 is the first hybrid with medium slender (MS) grain type, similar to BPT 5204. • it matures in 130-135 days and gives grain yield of 6.0 6.5 t/ha under normal irrigated conditions. • it has higher milling (>71%), head rice recovery (>60%), L/B ratio (2.61), intermediate amylose content (24%) and gel consistency of 63 mm indicating good cooking quality. • DRRH-3 is suitable for cultivation in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. • DRRH 3 has been released and notified by Central Sub-Committee on Crop Standards and Notification of Varieties (CSCCS & NV) in the year 2009. it bears Notification No: 211 (E) dated 29-1-2010.
Technology Details:
It can be cultivated in areas with assured irrigation, where fine grained rice varieties are preferred and widely cultivated. It is resistant to neck blast and moderately resistant to leaf blast, rice tungro, brown spot diseases and tolerance to white backed plant hopper. It has strong culm, and thus lodging resistant with significant superior performance even under lower doses of N (40 kg N/ha) indicating its higher nitrogen use efficiency. Being the hybrid in MS grain category, this hybrid is likely to become popular in all rice growing regions of South India.
